Did this new install from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=9FF6E897-23CE-4A36-B7FC-D52065DE9960&displaylang=en actually work for anybody?

We tried it on two different computers. On both it would first download updates and prompt for a reboot. After rebooting, I ran the install again. This time it stated "This update does not apply to your system." BTW, Our systems are WinVista SP2. After all of that, there are no shortcuts to these tools and no evidence that any tools were installed on either system. Anyone have any ideas on what we might have done wrong?

In the meantime, we have decided to go back to using the old batch file method as you have described so nicely in your post. Thanks again!

You sound so well-adjusted :) I hope you are enjoying grad school and all of the newness of your life.

However, I have to add that I scored over 300 on that test. I guess I have a lot to be stressed about. :) Hopefully things will calm down soon.

Plus, student loans have a very low rate of interest, so you can wait for long periods of time to pay them off.

Or, you can just stay a student forever, since you don't have to start paying them off 'til you're out of school.

Sounds like product differentiation for a market with a lower price point. As to the measly percentage given to the author, the author is probably getting more than if you'd bought a used book. At first I thought you had a copyright violating reproduction, but it doesn't sound like it. It just sounds like a licensing deal. Something akin to the Windows Vista Starter version for the developing world down market.

Oh, and the part that fail to see that is different is that the royalties paid to the authors can be significantly different, but reducing their livelihood. Behind your "evil overpriced textbook racket" are real people trying to feed their children, pay their bills, send their children off to school, and earn a living. Doesn't seem too evil to me.
